Toledo Mayor Mike Bell takes out blank petition forms Thursday at the Lucas County Board of Elections to collect the required number of signatures to get on the ballot in the race for mayor. Mr. Bell, a political independent, is seeking a second term. The deadline for him and the other five candidates to turn in signatures to qualify for the Sept. 10 nonpartisan primary election is July 12. Also running are Lucas County Auditor Anita Lopez and Toledo Councilman Joe McNamara, both Democrats; city union president Alan Cox, an independent; Libertarian Michael Konwinski, a retired city worker; and Republican Opal Covey, an evangelist.
