DELTA — The village of Delta plans a ceremony to dedicate an Underground Railroad monument at 5 p.m. on Wednesday.
The dedication of Delta’s International Underground Railroad Station, which includes King Cemetery and Old King Farm on State Rt. 109, will take place at the American Legion Hall, south of Delta on St. Rt. 109.
The ceremony is part of the village’s sesquicentennial celebrations, marking 150 years.
Naomi Twining, a historian, will be at the event. An open-house celebration will take place after the ceremony in the legion hall, where refreshments will be provided.
Both the cemetery and the farm have been designated as Underground Railroad stations by the U.S. National Park Service and the Ohio Historical Society.
