Regional National Weather Service offices have issued winter-weather advisories today for all of northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan in anticipation of an approaching winter storm.
The advisories from agency offices in Cleveland, Detroit, and North Webster, Ind., indicate varying amounts of snow from the storm late today and overnight, followed by change-overs to a wintry mix of snow, sleet, or freezing rain by Saturday.
In Ohio, precipitation is gradually expected to change to all rain from south to north as the storm progresses, while wintry precipitation is forecast to last longest in Michigan.

Advisories for Toledo, Findlay, Tiffin, Sandusky, and southeast Michigan are posted from 7 p.m. today until noon Saturday. Advisories for the Defiance, Van Wert, Paulding, and Allen counties are posted from 4 p.m. today until 7 a.m. Saturday, and for Williams, Fulton, and Hillsdale counties from 7 p.m. until 10 a.m. Saturday.
Forecasters expect the storm to start with snowfalls ranging from 1 to 2 inches in the most southerly areas to 3 to 5 inches in northern Ohio and 3 to 6 inches in southeast Michigan before the precipitation begins to change.
Ice accumulations are generally expected to be light but could reach a tenth to 2 tenths of an inch in the Findlay, Upper Sandusky, and Bucyrus areas before the weather there changes to rain, the weather service said.
Freezing-rain advisories have been posted for central Ohio areas where significant snowfall is not expected, and a winter-storm warning has been posted for parts of western Pennsylvania where heavier icing is forecast.
