Bob Barger, a 96-year-old World War II veteran who recently graduated from the University of Toledo, received special congratulations today from President Donald Trump during the daily press briefing held by Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House Press Secretary.
“I want to thank the President, First Lady, and the White House for their kind words,” Mr. Barger said via an emailed statement from UT. “I will always be grateful to be part of the University of Toledo's Class of 2018.”
During the briefing, Mrs. Sanders referenced a letter the President sent to Mr. Barger.
“His hard work, diligence, and passion to learn exemplified the Greatest Generation’s commitment to excellence and the American spirit,” she said.
Mr. Barger is mentioned beginning at the 29-second mark of the video.
