At least six Toledo businesses are having to replace gas tanks on company vehicles after someone drilled a hole in them and apparently tried to steal gasoline.
The businesses, all automotive types, reported to police that the holes drilled into the gas tanks were so big that the tanks will have to be replaced causing, in some instances, thousands of dollars in damages.
The thefts seem to have started around June 15 or June 16 and were reported to police on June 17 as the stores began to open for business.
Toledo police Let. David Schmidt said they’re unsure whether the incidents are related.
