Green flag drops next Friday at Toledo Speedway

There were 70 race teams on hand for the first practice session of the year at Toledo Speedway last weekend and an eclectic assortment of ARCA late models, factory stocks, sportsmans, four cylinders and Figure 8 s, along with an ARCA RE/MAX machine worked out on the track. A final practice session takes place on Sunday before the real racing begins next Friday night with the Home Depot season opener.

Racing on the half-mile paved oval continues through Sept. 17. The highlight of the season will be two visits from the superspeedway-style stock cars of the ARCA RE/MAX Series. On Sunday, May 16 Toledo Speedway hosts the Hickory Farms 200. NASCAR driver Ken Schrader will compete with almost 40 other entries.

The Michigan-Ohio State ARCA 200 presented by Jasper Engines & Transmissions & Belle Tire runs Sept. 3.

For Friday night races, the front gates open at 5 p.m., time trials start at 6:15 and racing begins at 7:30. Toledo Speedway is located on Benore Road at the I-75/Alexis Road exit on the Michigan-Ohio border. The track phone number is 419-727-1100.
