The Panthers had to battle on senior night to maintain a share of the conference lead.
The only quarter Whitmer outscored the visiting Eagles was the second, but it was a decisive 15-4 edge that proved to be the difference.
LeRoy Alexander led the way for the Panthers (15-2, 9-2) with 14 points. Luke Hickey and Chris Wormley added 10 points apiece. Nigel Hayes, who came into the contest averaging 13.6 points per game, battled foul problems and was limited to two points.
Ross Achter and Jack Nagy each scored 12 points for Clay (5-12, 2-9). Derek Belkofer chipped in with 10.
