Junior running back Jordan Hopgood has been suspended for one game for a violation of team rules, Bowling Green State University announced today.
Hopgood will miss the Falcons' season opener at Florida on Saturday, Sept. 1, Coach Dave Clawson said.
Hopgood was arrested on Friday and has been charged with furnishing alcohol to a person who is underage. He is scheduled to appear in Bowling Green Municipal Court Friday at 9:30 a.m.
Hopgood played nine games last season; he did not play in the final three contests because of a knee injury that limited his availability all season. He carried the ball 60 carries for 213 yards and four touchdowns while catching seven passes for 53 yards.
In 2010, he played in all 12 games and started once for the Falcons. He finished with 76 rushing attempts for 167 and six TDs while adding 10 receptions for 60 yards.
