Toledo Classic Inc. presented checks in the amount of $300,000 to 10 local children’s charities at its annual charity luncheon Thursday at Owens Corning’s World Headquarters.
Toledo Classic Inc. — the parent company of the Jamie Farr Toledo Classic, an LPGA event held annually Highland Meadows Golf Club — has contributed $7.7 million to more than 100 northwest Ohio children’s charities since 1984.
Charities that received money include the Ronald McDonald House Charities of NW Ohio ($75,000); Jamie Farr Toledo Classic Scholarship Fund of the Toledo Community Foundation ($25,000); Aurora House ($25,000); Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo ($25,000); Family and Child Abuse Prevention Center ($25,000); Feed Lucas County Children ($25,000); Kids Unlimited ($25,000); Mom’s House ($25,000); The Victory Center ($25,000); and the YMCA/JCC of Greater Toledo ($25,000).
Next year’s 28th annual LPGA tournament returns to Highland Meadows Golf Club from July 15-21, 2013, with a purse of $1.3 million.
