Former Notre Dame Academy basketball standout Cat Wells has transferred to Winthrop.
Wells, who was dismissed from the University of Toledo program in October, will not be eligible until the completion of the 2013 fall semester.
A 5-foot-5 point guard, Wells averaged 11.9 points, 7.2 assists, 2.7 rebounds, and 3.1 steals per game as a senior for Notre Dame.
She led the Eagles to a 23-5 overall record and helped them advance to the state semifinals for the first time in school history. A four-year varsity player and three-year starter, Wells scored 924 career points.
UT coach Tricia Cullop suspended Wells indefinitely on Sept. 21 for breaking team rules. Wells was dismissed a month later.
Winthrop, which is located in Rock Hill, S.C, is 7-8 this season.
